Representatives of the Social Affairs Department met with Honourable Members of the National Assembly on Thursday 26th September 2024 for a presentation of the Children (Working with Children Suitability Check) Regulations, 2024 soon to be published.
Following the short presentation, MNAs interacted with the team to seek clarification, raised concerns and made suggestions about issues in the implementation phase and how to circumvent situations that may be construed as violation of rights of individuals undergoing the vetting.
The Social Affairs Department team comprising of the Principal Secretary, Director Social Services and Principal Monitoring and Compliance Officer welcomed the exchange and suggestions for further discussion to ensure smooth implementation in 2025.
