It was an exceptional moment of warmth and joy when Minister Patricia Francourt welcomed Mrs Anielle Egekwu for a chat, following the successful completion of her Master’s degree in counselling psychology in May 2024.
Mrs Egekwu worked for five years as a provisional psychologist with the Social Services Division prior to proceeding for further studies in 2022. Oozing with much enthusiasm, she shared her experience and the context of her thesis with Minister Francourt and Principal Secretary Linda William-Melanie.
She expressed her gratitude for support received from the Ministry which approved her further studies, as well as for colleagues who provided her with much needed information that allowed her to stay at the top of her class in most assignments. Mrs Egekwu is looking forward to transfer her newly acquired knowledge into practice to help make a difference in the lives of children and families.
Minister Francourt expressed pride for her accomplishment and thanked Mrs Egekwu for her preference in counselling psychology, noting that Seychelles lacks counselling psychologists, as most students are opting for clinical or educational psychology. She was forewarned not to submerge herself in excessive workloads to prevent burnout.
Mrs Egekwu graduated from the Webster Vienna Private University in Austria. We wish her all the very best as she organises herself to start practicing.
