Communities across Seychelles are being inspired this week to clean up, fix up and conserve the environment, with the Clean up the World Campaign in full swing.
The Social Affairs Department in collaboration with a group of adult volunteers from the Melodi Lafanmir Association teamed up with the Attendant and service users of the Night Shelter in North East Point to improve cleanliness and overall appearance at the facility. This is in line with this year’s focus on enhanced safety and security.
The Night Shelter provides a safe haven for homeless men in the evenings, deterring them from wandering and sleeping on the streets. The service is currently open to only male clients and is geared towards their reintegration for a more productive and dignified life.
The combined cleaning efforts fostered a sense of pride and responsibility, a reminder that even the smallest actions can make a significant impact. The activity also provided an opportunity for enhanced community engagement, which we hope, will continue.
The Night Shelter unit extends its gratitude towards staff who assured logistics for the day’s activity and external partners including the Glacis DA’s office, Agricultural Research Centre and Melodi Lafanmir.
